I just turned 19 this July. It's a scary thought that in less than a year now, I'll be 20 - no longer a teenager. I don't feel like an adult at all. O_O;



◆When did you start drawing?

I've been drawing since I was like 3. ^-^ Of course, I sucked until I was 8, and that was when I got into anime, and wanted to draw it. So I practiced lots and got way better over the next 10 or so years.



◆Which hand do you use for drawing?

My left-hand. I'm a leftie!



◆Which is easier to draw - male or female?

I'm fine with either, but I like drawing girls better.



◆Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?

Short hair. That way I can make it frame the face and it makes it easier to draw the facial features too.



◆Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?

Towards the left, for me... or perhaps that's just a habit of mine?



◆Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?

The front. I'm bad with silhoettes or profiles of people.



◆What do you have problems in drawing?

Animals, Profiles (aka, side view of head), and intricate landscapes.



◆What do you like to draw?

People.



◆Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?

Mostly digital. I sometimes try traditional but it gets messy sometimes. O.o'



◆Where do you start drawing from?

The eyes, then spreading out on either side from there, then down from the head. I enjoy drawing eyes, so I start with what I like the most!



◆What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?

I tend to go over the same lines several times and it looks a bit scratchy before I go over it with a fine-liner.



◆Any tips for coloring/shading?

Do it correctly! Lol, kidding. Start by going around the edges, using a finger to block the pencil from going outside the lines and pressing down a tad harder than normal, for the darkest areas, then gradually take the weight off as you work your way to the middle of the area you're shading untill you're bearly touching it. This can make a 3d-like effect, if you do it right. I learnt this in Graphic Design when I was around 14. (I think. I might have been shown it when I was younger as well but I don't remember. )



◆How long does it take to finish a piece of art?

It depends. My drawing mood switches on and off in the middle of actually drawing it, so sometimes it takes 20 minutes, and sometimes it takes months. My mood is a difficult thing to work with! XD;;



◆What music do you listen to while you draw?

Actually, music usually ruins my mood for both drawing AND writing. I prefer to do it in quiet, so I don't get distracted and start singing along to the music instead of actually getting the drawing/story done. It's just how I work.



◆How long does it take you to come up with an idea?

It usually hits me when I don't want it to. Like, when I'm in bed TRYING to sleep. XD;; Ugh. I can think an idea up real quickly, but it takes longer to think of a good and/or possible idea.


◆Your favorite drawing utensils?

Hmmmm... pencils, and chalk pastels/charcoal.



◆Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?

Blue's my favourite colour... but I tend to like black and white stuff. It's easier.



◆Your favorite style(s)?

Japanese manga style, mostly.



◆What kind of artist are you aiming for?

Hmm... a graphic designer maybe, someday. Drawing manga is more like a pass-time for me, but it WOULD be a cool job too. Maybe an illustrator for children's books or something.

Summer holidays has just begun for me and I'm glad to finally have some time to myself!! ^o^ Most of it, i'm gonna be a lazyass. but in August I'm going on my holidays to Florida, USA, which is going to be great. They have awesome pretsels which you can't get in the UK and I've been craving them ever since the last time I went to America. *drools* And I'll be looking for all the best rollercoasters I can find at Disney and Universal Studios, which is gonna be fun.
